The Byker Community Archive focuses mainly on the modern Byker Estate but also preserves and shares the broader history of Byker, which was first recorded as a small medieval township in 1198.
Our collections include photographs, documents, publications, oral histories and more.
Among our collections are materials from the Byker Lives project (2011 - 2013), copies of Byker’s former community magazine, the Byker Phoenix and archives donated by people associated with Byker’s redevelopment.
